Back in the game with a new phone (but, like Bibou, still haven't gotten a single Cold War drop from LA)!

Heads up, neighbors - I'm out for the next few days at least while I deal with phone issues.

Update: I thought I had a workaround, but then I put my backup phone on the charger and damn near blew it up (no, it isn't a Note 7)!  So I'm out again until my new phone gets here, hopefully tomorrow.  At least I managed to back up my game via Helium so it should just be a matter of installing Helium and AC on the new phone and restoring it.

Mayday Mayday Mayday, which location is dropping more items for you ? Because I have done about 100 flights to Los Angeles without getting a single event item... UNBELIEVABLE

I have been using spyglass and sky captain and I have had 2 drops for the Cold War collection. I have been sending out at least one plane of each type so can't say which had the drops.

However, with the 2 bonuses, I have managed to get 4 institute of Volcanology but even with that many collecting jackhammers (often) every 20 minutes, I still don't have one "They're Not Rocks" collection completed. I can only use 1 jackhammer once every hour. I have completed one collection for Gates of Hell.

This is a very tough event for sure, but we still have 16 days so lots of time yet. Maybe they will loosen up the drops soon and make this event just a tad more fun. Or maybe their idea is for everyone to buy bonuses with the free 10 greenies we just received....

This has certainly been a very challenging event and I do believe without using bonuses, a person will never complete it. Actually, even using them I am beginning to have my doubts with the Cold War collection.

I have used sky captain and spy glass a few times since the event started and I have now completed the Gates of Hell and They're Not Rocks 3 times. As for the Cold War collection, I have only completed 1 so far even with the bonuses, so today I decided to throw in a dice and golden dice bonus and not one item dropped towards the Cold War collection. I have been flying at least 1 of each kind of plane since the event started.

FYI: If you use a spy glass and then visit your neighbours, you will receive 5 chainsaws from each. With the spy glass still active, you should receive more filters and a few Gates of Hell collection items from your city as well.

This is wickedness from GI. Everybody is complaining about this event, I was so angry that I stopped playing this event on my other profile...not a single collection completed on cold war ...

So I posed the same question to GI on Facebook ("If I fail in this quest, will the volcano erupt and destroy my city?  'Cause that'd be a fitting end to 3 1/2 years of playing this game.").  Here is their response:

That suggests to me that drop rates are going to increase (although they haven't yet - since I wrote that a day and a half ago, I've gotten ONE more Cold War drop).  They'd better hurry.

Update Tuesday AM (Eastern US Time): It does not appear that drop rate has changed. I've done about 30 flights since I posted the above and gained no additional CW items. I'm calling off the search, so to speak - I'm only flying to destinations I haven't three-starred yet (Anchorage, Osaka) and I'm no longer throwing bonuses down the sinkhole.

Also, I no longer need chainsaws since I've completed that part of the event.

I'm just letting everyone know that something is wrong with togodzilla's gifting tonight.  He's not receiving anything and when I hit send in return, nothing happens.  I'll keep working on it, but if you don't get anything from him, that's why.  Anyone else having this problem?  (He's the only one of us to do the most recent IOS update, so I'm worried that's the reason.)

I know none of the three of us will win this event (among the three of us, we have exactly one collection!), but I'm still going to try until the bitter end, figuring that the event might get repeated at some point and I might as well be as ahead as possible.

But if you've given up and need other things, feel free to send to us.  We will return (whenever we can).

what a horrible event it was
I was also expected bonus in end, as it came blaze404
when I started the event I completed 1 of each collection without using any bonus but when I came to know that bonus will help more
I used dice golden dice spyglass and sky captain
I got nearly all drops from jet Los Angeles
and collected bonuses from buildings like stone castle and fly to some destinations like Sydeny
I am still in disbelief that I had completed the event
as my last bonus spyglass was remained 8 minutes
and then I decided to use dice and I got the last item of cold war collection
I am really happy to complete it
and all the best everyone for the last day

Wonderful Dipal! I am so happy to hear someone from here actually completed the event. I also used lots of spyglass, sky captain and both dice and didn't even come close to completing the Cold War collections. Even with the 3 boxes today, I still need 6 more items.

The 3 Chests offered gave me items for the Cold War Collection.
And i bought some chests to finish !
But very very little drop rate for Cold War Collection, even with the bonuses.

I was lucky enough to finish the event, about 3 hrs before it ended. In total I have used 4 spyglass and skycaptain bonuses, and deplete about 800 fuel20 in reserve. Even with the 4 free chests offered by GI, I'm still short of 1 item at the end, and I decided to use 18 greens to buy a chest, and it paid off. I guess I have been lucky.
