Max Population No Longer Right

After the last update, I'm no longer able to build anything, says I've reached my max population... I was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy under before this update, now it says 2036/1260

Not allowed on business/residential side, but airport is good to build Sleigh Hanger and Ice Runway.

Likewise. No Christmas shop. I decided I would try and just delete all the stock shops... I'm not sure that was a good idea! LOL I'm not even close. Was 1498/960. I'm at 1200 now.

Well I did it. Haha what I do for this stupid game. I figured it was cheaper to replace all those buildings than the upgrade on city hall. And for some reason I can't mail the game from in the game as normal so I'll have to go on my computer later or something!

Didn't understand what you did, but my Town Hall is level 7 so there's no more upgrade. Also my population is 554/1100 only.

Same issue for me - since the xmas update population looks to have blown out some how.

My max population was 960 because I had not done the final upgrade and is still level 6. It would have cost 540k to upgrade. I think the update essentially doubled my number. I knew it was wrong, but still deleted all the regular shops I can buy outright with no additiknal items needed to complete. It got my population down to 940 something. Anyway now I have mostly event or quest buildings left and that enabled me to buy the Christmas shop for five greenbacks.

Edit: not that it matters now. I can't get the game to even open at this point!

Same problem here. I wanted to build some christmas stores, but got the max population. First didn't notice the amount on the top so i deleted some buildings to make room. This offcourse didn't help.
Hope they will fix it soon so i can buy my deleted buildings back & christmas stores.

No way I can clear out 1000 population to build Xmas stores. I'm waiting for a canned "our developers are working on it" empty promise emails.

Also you can no longer send a support ticket in the game, the keyboard won't open.

And a third bug in this shitty release is that half the time my incoming gifts glitch out and I have to exit and re-enter to see and retrieve them.

Why do I keep spending money on this game?!? #addict

guys do not remove any building and just wait for GI to rectify the issue.

Same here, waiting for GI to rectify rather than destroy buildings as I'm now 1776/980!

The keyboard issue for me was that i isnt select a drop down reason first. After that it lete type in the message box.

As for the incoming gifts, I have opened and closed it a few times and still cant vet them to magically appear.

I guess we'll all have to wait on a Christmas miracle.

After the max population issue I now also notice that i can not see or take my gifts send by friends. It says that i have 16 income but the screen is empty so I can not do anything with the invisible gifts.

I was able to create a trouble ticket inside the game, but the typing on screen went very slowwwwww. Now wait for a reacton and fix.

Thanx, this did work or me. Closing the game completely (exit) and start again will make my friends gifts visible again.

Still no fix available for the max population. Only got a automatic e-mail reply that my ticket is at the supportdesk and i will be hearing additional informationas soon as possible.

Still find it surprising that GI almost always makes the (android) updates available on friday(afternoon) and than they have weekend. Nothing can be fixed till the next business day. Maybe its a weird thought that I have but realeasing a update on wednesday or thursday is not possible?

Anyway we stil have to wait.

I am afraid there won't be any patch for this max population issue.

In previous versions, population of the commercial buildings was not counted. Yes the game has population info for each commercial buildings but it didn't count before. It's a good bug for player but GI has correct it in the latest update. So now it is counted and many of our cities are suddenly overpopulated.

So, what can you do?
1. Upgrade Town Hall - won't help too much
2. Remove buildings - for most of the level 40 players, half of the city will be gone.
     (Some building purchased by Green Notes do not increase the population)
3. Build those reward buildings from the missions that give +20 max population.

Same here, its little bit of a problem town hall at level 6 and the population over 1600, have tried to loose some buildings but I think I have to lose halve my buildings.
I save the buildings from the bad santa day and see what happens in the future.
Level 7 is not enough......  .

Kind of ironic.  Just a little while ago we were joking here about how the population bonuses received for some of the buildings was unnecessary!  I guess the joke's on us.

I have received the same response, but in a jolly, jokey way. See below. My population is at 1762/920 so I'd have to demolish half my city to build anything new. I've been playing every day for a year and a half and they do this? I'm not likely to keep playing now.

So all the money I spend to expand my land wasn't necessary. If they counted the population right from the start nobody wanted to pay for greens to expand their land cause you wouldn't have the population to build something anyway.

I'm around 800 over my max and I wouldn't know where to begin to demolish buildings. 1890/1070.

I was hoping for a fix so we could expand the land even more cos I'm out of space while I'm at a maximum land expansion. Guess that's not necessary anymore. But still this isn't the smartest move by GI, if you want to earn money you need bigger airports for the players not smaller airports.

Got the same response like time weasel and it is like iamice wrote above not a patch that is going to fix the max population issue.
Whe i did read the e-mail it was looking like a joke and i could not believe a solution like this.
I now have to think what i will do with this game. Break down more than half of my city and look everyday at my empty spots (which did cost a lot of green) and still play at the border of max population or deinstall this game.

Same asinine response in my inbox. I've spent lots of real money on this game. Lots.

I would have to demolish half my city, and my city is fully expanded. That would leave over half my CITY side barren. I won't be spending a single dime more. I would never have purchased land expansions....

This game is the biggest crock of shit!

For me the same with the real greens and all the expansion i did which looks useless with the new rule the "introduced".

Sometimes i wonder why do like to kill the chickens with the golden eggs that much? Maybe they want to squize even more money from us? -> They probably will introduce soon a "paying" option to "help" level 40 players to spend even more money to be able to continue there half empty game :-(

I have opened the ticket back up with an "are you kidding me?" type response. Can't believe they want us to destroy literally half our airports in order to carry on playing. Well actually, yes I can. They are morons.

Why would the mayor only pick on the android but not other platforms such as iphone/ipad??!! For major change like this, at least show some consistency.

There are no words to describe how completely laughable and ridiculous their in-game story/response is. Just... wow.

Edit: maybe they only picked on android (if the above post is on the level) because we're the only ones that get promo codes, right?

Maybe an idea for there next quest:
- break down half of the buildings you own
- By more land for greens to expand, but not able to build it anymore
- If you are 1 under your allowed population spend 250 greens to complete the quest.

reward = empty wallet building (can not be placed in your town)

So I've found some sort of workaround for this problem. I still hope GI will come to their senses and drops this thing bit if they're not here is a kind of solution.

You can try this if you already demolished half your city or you think GI won't come back from their decision.

What I did was demolished lots of buildings so I could legally build some of the Santa buildings.

So my situation was around 1850/1070. I destroyed almost all commercial buildings cause I need the passengers and didn't want to destroy something I couldn't rebuild from the normal store. Although I also destroyed some buildings from previous special missions. For instance I had 6 post offices now I have two, I had 6 colleges, now I have three.

Anyway after I was around 1000/1070 I build the Santa buildings and notice after u finished I was at 1088/1070.

So then I decided to demolish a couple of green scrapers. 36 to your population each.

WHILE YOU'RE UNDER YOUR LIMIT YOU CAN BUILD WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!

But when a building is finished which gets you over your limit you can no longer build anything. So when you want to try this,buy buildings that are fast to construct as late as possible.

Now I've got 1480/1070 with a couple of Santa buildings included.

Still hope GI will drop this.

Frankly speaking, if this bug-intended or not- goes unfixed I'll have to uninstall the game and go ahead with my life. You can't spend months building your virtual city to destroy half of it just like this.

I received another reply from GIS to my "are you kidding me" that i gave a a reaction to there mayor max population fairytail story that hope current players will buy.

They still don't get it at all. In there reply they sticked with there new feature which ruins our game completly. All we have to do is demolish ONE building first. ppffff I realy don't understand a company like this.
Anyway I decided to write one last more time to them and made a sample calculationfor them to show them what a big impact itis to go down from for example 2000 population till 700 (i did took 700 because we don't want to be maxed again after building 2 or 3 new buildings).
In this example that i wrote to them it will take 63 demolish (24 population) buildings to be able to play normal again. This is about 2/3 of the whole city (my city as well) that will be empty.
I will wait for there next response but i am leaning strong agains the same feelings as Adamali in the previous post to uninstall and go on with my life again.

I am very close to being a level 40 player. My population is now 1842/780, after the latest update. I won't be demolishing ANYTHING. If Game Insight doesn't have the "insight" to realize that this is a terrible idea, and reverse their decision, then I guess they'll lose me as a player. I've spent too much time on this game, to be forced to wipe out most of my progress.

Agree with Leeburt.  It takes too much time and coins to build everything.  If that was their intention they should come out with Level 8 before changing the population requirements and NOT during a new event.  I may be able to earn the buildings but I can't build them.

I have a ticket in.  They just asked me to send a screen shot like they don't have a clue what I'm talking about.   

My latest rant to GI, I know this will result in nothing, but I'm so angry.

Actually I don't think you understand. Frankly, GI is a terrible company. I have spent over $300 on this game. It WAS fun to play. I've endured numerous bugs in ever goddamn release, my game crashed for 5 weeks back in March and I couldn't play.

Thr manner in which GI responded to the complaint with a mocking letter, which some uncreative asshole at GI found funny was patronizing.

To illustrate how screwed up this is, I had to delete nearly every single building in my city which was not a quest or collectable building just to get under my population. This has level over 100 blank buildable squares in my city, which equates to roughly 10 expansions, and that doesn't include roads. This is absolutely asinine.

Since an arbitrary changes was made, I am no longer able to use these 10 expansions and in no way would have purchased them  had I known this change was coming.

At an expansion price of 20 greens, I am specifically requesting a refund of 200 greens, the majority of my greens were purchased at 300% bonus, so 96 greens X 2 X 9.99= $19.98USD.

If you are unable to refund my money please put me in contact with someone at GI who can. If GI is unable to issue a refund within 48 hours, I will be disputing the last two purchases with my credit card company with the entire correspondence in this email chain.

Since you have spent money, they may actually listen to you. Personally, this is the exact reason I recommend not spending a dime on this or any other GI game. If it becomes unplayable, I just can just quit playing and have only lost a lot of time.

Based only on my past experience with GI, I imagine this is a screw up that will be fixed on the next update, unfortunately it may be after the Christmas event is over and I won't be able to purchase a gift shop. I think it is a screw up because they only made the change to Android players... but who knows.

I'll continue to limp along through the Christmas event but if this population change is really permanent, then I'm probably through playing for awhile since the only reasons to play at this point is for the events, to help others, and earn more stars which don't really gain anything but prestige .

I had fully expanded by using green bill(pay by real $$), and had almost every single building can be built without paying $$$.

i did arrange everything well, eventhough I had 3 of every building or so, I still have about 3-4 expansion EMPTY for future mission item.

My population has reached 2750/700, which means I have to delete more than 3/4 of my city.

I started regret to spent so much $$$ and time on Gi.
If no positive response after Xmas vacation, I'll call my credit card bank and cancell my last couple transactions too.

I am not sure what we could achieve via claims in banks. I made the same mistake too (last one just one day before the changes), but never paid more than I could regret. The recent situation is very inconvenient, but to the certain extent I like the change. The downsides from my point of view:
- it was not announce in advance
- there should be a way to reduce the area and reconvert the area to green cash
- it came exactly in the beginning of the X-mas event and influenced a lot of players in negative way
- the conversion ratio was too hard and it would be easier to make it in 2 steps to give the players a chance to react

Despite the fact 40 percent of my city is empty I still like it, the game became more challenging. Do not shoot me, it is just my point of view, but I fully understand all the complains and the change was done in a very unprofessional way.

Honestly, going to my credit card company likely won't get a refund. I understand that. I'm sure there is some Clause about in game purchase, etc. But it will cause GI to have to respond without some laughable "mayor wants to stuck it up your corn hole with no lube" response. Time wasted on our all parts, but the bottom line is the ONLY thing that will get GI's attention.

Pavolko your opinion is respected although I don't agree with the changes  . I also think these two should be added to your list of downsides:
- change made prior to level 8 added
- change only affects Android players

The change would definitely be more accepted if these 6 things had happened.

The mayor of my city has been drinking too much Vodka and partying with Mayor Ford from Toronto.

Before you close my ticket, can you please actually answer a few questions?

Why is this change only for Android devices?
Why was it launched unannounced?
Why was Level 8 not launched at the same time?
Why was it launched in conjunction with Santa's Bad Day, making my most awaited and one of the most challenging events almost impossible to complete

So you want me to demolish 1/3 of my buildings to continue to build new structures?

I have changed my rating from 5 to 1 in the Google Play store and will find another game to occupy my time.

In the I'm not satisfied comment, I also added "People don't live where they work, they work to live."

I really hope the decide to reverse this change. This is ridiculous.

I am also stuck with either not being able to build any bulidings or just delete ALL my coin buildings and some of my passenger buildings so I can build a skating rink. I think I'll just move from my Airport City until the mayor is impeached or elected out of office and this policy changes.

I for one will join the others and boycott the Andriod bank and not make any purchases until the mayor realizes he made a mistake. On the good side, our 4 family members are saving their $20.00 each per month spent on this game and spending it on non-GI games. Maybe if GI realizes they made a mistake (because so many users will not visit the bank) they will return us to a playable status.

I will join eventually for check if GI give a solution but if not I will drop the game. Was funny and additive game for more than 10 month for me. So please Guys I want to send an apologize to all my neighbors, without your help this game haven't been as funny.

So I will put my game on Pause for now :'(

Sooooooooo.... Apparently my last anger filled GI email struck a cord, they just requested the Google Wallet IDs of the transactions I want refunded. Still not holding my breath.

As for the purchases, will you please send your Google order numbers. You can find your receipt and order number by logging into wallet.google.com with the account you used to make the purchase. Once you have found the order in question, please send us the Google order number, the date and amount of payment.

We'll miss you - Please send GI an email letting them know and change your Google Play recommendation to a 1. The more people that express their opinion, the better chance of getting them to change it back.
