Flight catering building is no longer required?

Hi all,
After unlocking all the flights for the delta (& powerful ~) and buying the delta plane, I realised I can fly to all of them even if I don't have a Flight catering building (I have the meals from giftboxes and gifts): Moscow, New York,.... Barcelona.
That's rather good news that ones doesn't have to buy this totally overpriced thing anymore (80k plus tons of 'very seldom' items). This might be "fixed" in a later update of the game, though.

I noticed that the destination are unlocked for me as well. I don't have a delta yet, but previously the route was completely locked, now its just greyed out (which makes sense since I don't have a delta yet).
But one of my colleagues at work who has flight catering facility still under construction - for him the routes are still unlocked since he is waiting for one more item to activate the facility.

That would certainly be great! I've been saving up for the facility, but noticed the same. I had assumed it was only because I had been gifted so many flight catering items, but I'm new here so... I don't really know any better!!

Does anyone know if this true for the Kindle as well?
A bug in the game will not allow us to build it, so I'm hopeful that once I`ve flown all my Flights to NiceandDubai it'll kick in for me too.
