"Back to School" Event guide 2013

Thought it might be easier to start a new post with new information (since at least flight times changed):

1st task - Build a University

Fly to 3 new destinations:

Cambridge – Turbo Prop - 1 hour (Stars at 10, 20, 39)
Sorbonne – Jet - 3 hours (Stars at 19, 38, 75)
Stanford – Delta - 5 hours (Stars at 23, 46, 92)

Drop rates are Very Seldom for items and destinations.

Flights will drop items from the Knowledge is Power Collection.  Completing the Knowledge is Power Collection will earn an University Crystal Ball.  The University will show up in your warehouse.  

Build the University  - 2x2 tiles, 1hr build time – 500 coins to speed up – pay out 90 coins every 4 hrs

2nd task - Obtain the College Sports collection (4 times)

Visit yours or your friends Universities to complete the collection (Drop rate very seldom)

3rd task - Assemble a With Honors collection - (4times)

Visit yours or your friends Universities to complete the collection (Drop rate very seldom)
------------------------------------------

Completion of the event will earn a Genetic Research Institute (90 coins in 4 hours. max population +20).

Tip - Suggest NOT completing the collections until near the end of the event.  Once the event is over, the destinations will disappear from your flight choices.

Thanks for creating a 2013 Back to School DriveFast99! It's nicely done.

If you guys have University or Universities let of us know so that we can visit them to complete College Sports & the With Honors collections for the Back to School challenge. Screen shots of the University would be nice to verify how the building looks like as well if possible.

I'll drop my 2cents in....

Tips for completing Airport City Flight quests....
* Concentrate on flights to Cambridge first
You can get 3 flights to Cambridge for 1 flight to Sorbonne so 3x the chance of drops(i know stating the obvious)
I've never seen a measurable advantage of drop rates:Jumbo vs Turbo Prop = Turbo Prop wins all the time. So if you have the time to monitor hourly.....
If you can afford to sell off most of your planes and buy Turbo Props all the better. Once you have achieved Expert lvl then consider upgrading to Jets for Sorbonne etc; but only if you feel quest is progressing well.
* Short of land? sell off cheapest and easily replaceable items. eg Car yards, bowling Alleys etc - you can buy them back easily later.

Yes, i'm selling all my Jumbo's (5) and buying Turbo Props (after only just having bought them for Dark Skies)
Very costly with Dark Skies but this was how i completed with 80+ Fuel50, 40+Soul Nets, and 60+ Aerosols spare. (Soul Nets and Aerosols can still be used to complete Fuel50

That's a very good question! For now I'm just collecting but still can't complete to get 1 at least. Thanks for the visit to my city by the way KCNWA!

How could it get any lower  lol... my drop rate still seems about the same. My issue is one item. For df99 it's the globe, for df10 it's the magnetic board

I think it does, yeah. I've only been flying to Cambridge but I completed the collection after about 5 flights. Since building the university I haven't had a single drop and I've now got 3 stars in that destination.

I'm one laser printer away from a second University, so I might hold off on building until I get 2 or 3 more.

Would you all suggest keeping my first university in my warehouse and collecting a couple of more before building? Or do it for the purpose of adding to my collections of College sports and Honors first? Or should I build it so I can collect items from it.

I think drop rates are poor regardless....
I'm placing the Uni's as I get them. Hope to get atleast 6.

I completed the event but the building doesn't add 20 passengers to my total population. Has anyone else experienced that?

Just placed the prize building for completing the quest and no added 20 population bonus either..
