Since the last update there is a button at the event to finish it. Does this mean you can collect the last collection without finishing the event?

That's a good question, if you figure it out, let me know. I have been holding off clicking the collection button for fear it would end me being able to gift butterfly nets.

Yes, even if you've got all the required collections, it won't auto-complete; you need to actually click the 'complete' button to finish the quest and get the reward. That was the case with me and the leprechaun quest anyway.

Ok, I tested it and it indeed doesn't finish the event. Now the exclamation point is gone and I still can gift butterfly nets.
