Finish in the top three competition for any location (globe button on the bottom will take you to the world map where you can check your position), or complete a monument collection (pyramid, stonehenge, collesium, sphynx, greek ruins, etc) and you will get a bronze bag with one gold.
Basically they are hard to come by. The weekly flight competition is difficult due to the time travelers and registry hackers cheating.

I just completed a Space collection for the first time, Waterworld. I received a golden chest with 3 golden coins and some other items in it. How nice! Is this new? I always thought you can only get from the map-collections.

If memory serves me correctly, you only get silver toke s from the other space launches.

Well that's a new feature (this time a real feature!) then!
From the space launch I received silver coins indeed but from the Golden chest (another chest than you get from having first place) I did get some golden coins
