New challenge - a couple of questions:
What's a botanical garden? (for the butterflys)
Where do you get the butterfly nets from?

You can get the nets from your neighbours, I still had a bunch of them from a previous challenge but I can't recall which one.

The nets are probably left over from last spring? I started this today with the 3 running wilds already completed, 2 of 3 bouquets completed, 5 butterflies already collected (thanks to my Christmas tree!), and 33 pruning shears

Should be a nice easy challenge then. I had similar luck with the space event - I had been looking to launch and had pretty much everything sorted when the promotion started. Happy butterfly hunting!

Not so superb afterall. I have collected butterflys from several neighbours and no nets! GIS oversight I guess.

Strange, I found at least one per neighbour, some even two.

Player Mirima: visited 6 neighbors, got 8 nets, caught 1 butterfly
Player Eddy: visited 6 neighbors, got 7 nets, caught 3 butterflies.

Does somebody already have a botanical garden ?
To increase the probability to catch butterflies lol ...

The only things I need are nets and butterflies, both are very hard to get!

i visited loads of neighbours and only got 5 nets, which let me catch 2 butterflies. really, really annoying!

lets says it is possible to get 2 butterflies a day, then in 13 days you have 26 butterflies, that is almost 7 of each 4 butterflies and none of the one that will fail your challenge ;-) yeeeeah, looking forward of failing this challenge. But maybe next year I'll be able to finish it.... *sigh*

So far...so bad!

I've used 23 shears and gotten 1 flower &
9 nets and gotten 0 flowers

If I don't have better than a 3% drop rate today, I think I'm going to simply ignore this challenge altogether--not worth the wasted clicks at neighbors...

Same here, used about 15 nets - no butterfly yet.

Out of almost 50 shears got 7 flowers - but not all 5 to complete the collection.

Treadmills I had a few that I had collected for the planned space launches, so just gonna postpone my launches till after the promo.

Why does everyone complain about how hard these promos are? That is the whole point. It keeps you interested in the game. If it could be finished in 2 days it wouldnt be fun.

I don't mind it being hard, but at these rates its almost impossible to actually complete it without spending a lot of greens to get extra nets/shears.

I mean we are already 2 days in and I haven't got a single butterfly - how am I supposed to get 15 (possibly more as some will drop more often than others).

10 neighbors per day for 3 days =>
30 neighbors
Total nets 5
Total Butterflies 0.

This really is illogical!

I'm going to give it one more day trying for Nets - then it'll just be clicking for treadmills as nearly every passenger building can drop items at the moment.

think i've had 2 nets = 0 butterflies over both games...

If i got butterflies as often as my planes need repairing....i'd have 3 botanical gardens by now

I've had the same experience. Used my visits to neighbours over 2 days to collect a total of 12 nets which yielded 1 butterfly. Whereas in today's visit I got loads of drops for the treadmill collection from residential buildings. Might as well get lots of treadmills for space launches, as I usually find this collection the hardest to complete.

Sure, rub it in TDV lol I thought the drop rates were bad on the flowers, then I tried to get butterflies. I started with 5 butterflies compliments of my Christmas tree. So far I've gotten 2 more and both were ones I had already. This is gonna take a while

It delivers 90 coins every 4 hours.

Visiting 10 neighbours yielded 10 prunning sears and 8 nets which in turn produced 2 flowers and 4 butterflies (3 were duplicates of what i already had)

Just finished my 1st butterfly collection ... 2 lefts (I caught 2 butterflies with 1 net, incredible)

I have had 6 butterflies since the challenge started and 2 of those were duplicates. All the other collections were already done. Its getting quite frustrating now

Today I got 1 butterfly from 12 nets(visiting 10 neighbors) and its a duplicate :S

I'm still at 3 butterflies. I think I'm going to collect passengers in stead too.
The one upside: if ever this collection comes up again, like the flower one did, I have a very very very small headstart.

Same issue here. Out of every 10-15 nets I get 1 butterfly and even then most are duplicates, so not a single collection completed yet.

Today the drop rate is way better than previous days I got 18 nets and finished the quest

I finished 2 butterfly collections in the first 2 days. 2 weeks later and I still cant get the last one!

Too late to finish, when my game will reset, the challenge will be finished

I visited 9 neighbours today for a total of 3 nets (out of 45 attempts). Pathetic. And the drop rate of flowers and butterfly's was just as bad. Only 13 butterfly's were collected over the whole period this challenge.

I have also noticed the drop rate from planes has been reduced since the valentines challenge. I've flown over 200 flights in an attempt to complete the Carnival Magic collection for a total of 2 items.

Rant over! Am hoping that for the next update they reset the bridal salon, gazebo, and romantic cafe to generate coins once again.

Last two days I netted 1 net!
There is a Dutch saying: happy in game, unhappy in love. I must be very happily married.
On the other hand, my husband completed the challenge 4 days early.

Same experience her. Neither my own planes or gast planes bring any additional items

And there it is again.
Hopefully I will finish it on time now.
Just need 3 red admiralbutterflies to get there.

I want to be sure I understand how to finish this mission. I need to only earn butterflies since the otber tasks are already finished thankfully.

So some questions:

a) to get butterflies:
1. Using nets on butterflies around one's own airport.
2. Any other way?

b) to earn Butterfly nets to use above:
1. Be gifted them

By visiting neighbors and collect from the butterflies around their airports.

Saw the new quest this morning. Started of with my Runnin Wild and Boquet collections already complete (thanks to monuments). Had two out of three butterfly collections finished due to my Botanical Garden from last year. Using left over nets from last year, I got the one butterfly I needed on my first try. Completed the quest in under a minute. Received a 'Rock Garden' for my effort. Standard 2x2 monument, +20 population and '??' Coins every 4 hours, will wait and see how many coins it gives.
So now my population is 1394/1805. Problem is I don't have enough room left to take advantage of the extra population. My city is at the maximum expansion size already, and I only have a open 2x2 and 3x3 square that I am saving for monuments. Hopefully GI is planning an update to expand the existing boundries of the city to allow us to use all this extra population.
Good luck to everyone else--will be sending items to my neighbors to help with the quest.

Maybe some of you know this but here it goes...

For those clicking on neighbors' butterflies so as to gather Nets... I've found that at most I can find only three butterfly clusters to click. However, I just experimented and it seems I can leave the neighbor and come back and the butterfly clusters repopulate...so I can click a total of 5.  

edit:There is no time constraint either...just leave and come back right away or come back later.  I usually pick 2 neighbors to tackle as a pair...visit #1, gather 2-3 nets (sometimes one is hidden/indeterminate) then visit neighbor #2, then back to #1, etc.

Note that on each new visit, the flowers and butterfly clusters relocate so if there are "problem" locations just skip them until next visit. (end edit)

Not saying the drop rate is any good though.  LOL

Just got the last needed butterfly and completed all the sets. Is there any good reason to delay "cashing in" for this event?

I can gift shears but not nets so no real harm, right?

Cashing in will stop you from being able to collect more flowers and butterflys. No big deal unless you have spare nets and shears and want to get a head start for next year.
