Speculation: World Cup event?

So we've* got Stadiums, Brazilian Villas, and Brazilian Cottages. Might GI be planning an event to coincide with the World Cup? I've got 42 Football Flags from completing Fan Zone collections (which, coincidentally - or maybe not - look like the Brazilian flag with a soccer ball in the middle); it'd be nice to use them for something.

* Not everybody, of course, but most everybody who's been playing since last summer or earlier.

Yeah, I thought about this too. Maybe that's why new players can't build Brazilian Villas and Cottages anymore, it might be part of an upcoming event.

I didn't thought about the flag, but that might be a good one as well, maybe you'll have to collect it three times or so.

I really hope GI will start a new event, The Spring Has Come is such a long time ago. Maybe it starts next Thursday, together with the World Cup?

But only thing I don't get is why Windows players just started the Time To Rock event, while other players might get another event. Is it maybe because Windows is a new platform...???

Well I guess we'll find out, and I hope really soon

I was hoping that the long delay since the last quest meant we would have something really big to look forward to rather than another recycled old quest. I'm hoping we see the city borders expanded so we can take advantage of all the surplus population. I've got close to 600 extra population that is useless because I am running out of free space.

Found this on an other AC forum, it seems to be a big update:

- Now up to level 50
- 5 New (Giant) destinations: Helsinki, Melbourne, Havana, Yokohama and Austin.
- The last four need the item "Attitude Indicator" which always come from Helsinki, to buy for 1 greenie or the receive (and send) as gift.
- 5 New Collections for these new destinations.
- A few side missions to level up.
- S1 planes to rent for greenies for those destinations where you dont't have a plane for at that moment.

New event : The Great Game, 15 days and 9 hours.

Same football-event as in 2012:
1x Build a Stadium by completing the It’s a goal collection from Brazilian Villa and the Brazilian Cottage (The Brazilian Cottage and Villa are back in the shop)
4x Fly to Sao Paulo, Lima, Buenos Aires to complete the Carnival Magic Collection
4x Visit the Stadium to complete the Fan Zone collection

The reward is a Football-museum, 2x2 and gives an extra 20 to your population, next to the usual 90 coins each 4 hours.

I hope Android will get this update really soon. (Edit: The Grand Hotel-update was 8 days earlier on iOS than Android (13th of May against 21st of May)... I hope it won't take that long this time...)

The game limits you on how many buildings of one type you can have built on your city. For stadiums your limit is 10. Been there, done that.

Update available now for android users. 5 new destination and level 50 now and world cup event.

Event available as well! Just started and completed it at the same time...

Edit: After completing the event the Brazilian Village and Cottage will disappear from the shop

Found something new in today's update:

I've completed the event, but I can't send the Stadium items anymore. I was able to send Goal Posts, but after completing the new event (which I directly did after updating the game), I can't gift it anymore...

does the football event complite by itself, or can i still fly to the destinations to collect stars?

Very good news, when you completed Lunar Race and Distant Prospects will give you Launch Ready.

Not the best, but average update. Let´s see how the flights to the destinations drop the items required for the quest collection. The advantage of the flights is to use spyglass and fuel20 combo in the worste case. Good luck to everyone.

The drop rate from Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Lima used to be horrible, and it takes many flights just to get 1 item for the Carnival Magic Collection. How is the drop rate so far?

I'm still waiting for my replacement for my crashed device ... hope I can still make it to the event.

Still horrible,

I have 100 stadiums, 35 flags but non Carnival.
30 flights allready and not a single drop.

     

I think the droprate is better than it was before, since yesterday I received 3 items (the ones I needed)

Started and completed instantly due to the reserve I had of all the collections. Got my football museum built.

Also noticed that the update increased the fuel depots production limit from 95 to 100.

My monuments are already dropping items from the new locations.

I think that you, like me, went from Level 45 to Level 50 once per 'event' (landing, collection completion, etc.) once the update hit, each time gaining one max fuel. I went about an hour between events once I hit Level 48, and my max fuel at that time was 98.

Yes, finally GI does something smart! Free'd up so residential space for me.

It's a typical G! quest. I already collected many flags and stadiums, but the carnaval magic parts are coming in slowly.
But who cares, we won 5-1 from Spain. Ole !!  

I need one more "mask" to finish this. Doesn't look like there's any downside to completing the event since there are no new (temporary) destinations to lose.

Once you complete the event you can't build anymore Brazilian Mansions or Villas as they disappear from the store. If you want to get some to have them dropping items for stadiums, then buy what you want before you tap the complete button.
