Gold / Silver Tokens

In case anyone is interested in winning these, the weekly tally seems to be taken on Sunday evening at 8pm GMT (9pm British summer time or midnight Moscow time). It was accurate for me - the world map thingy had not registered a fleet arriving back a few minutes earlier as it only refreshes every hour, but they were credited to my weekly total. Quite why you'd want to slog to buy a plane that flies 10% faster when the quests mean they are bought and sold so often is another question...

From another forum it seems that 1st - 3rd place gets 3 to 1 gold tokens, then 4th - 10th 4 or 1 silvers, plus some fuel and launch collections thrown in. Rocket launches earn silver (8 for 1st, 4 for silver chest, 1 for bronze)

I like the idea of the leaderboard, some sort of competition is fun to compare how much flights you can get in compared to other users.

I don't really care about the tokens, but it's a shame that the leaderboards are already ruined by the time travellers. I mean over 1200 flights to one destination is impossible. And especially the people who dominate more than one leaderboard.

In order to get a faster plane I assumed you needed 100 silver OR 10 gold, but a recent attempt to get one for 100 silver seemed to be telling me you need both?

This strikes me as impossible when there are time travellers around, I don't see a way for a non-cheating player to win a gold at all, let alone 10.

Am I missing something?

i ended up with 13 Gold and none of that was because of Top 100 rankings. You get Gold I believe for 1st in Space launches (I think), and if you complete one of the Adventure collections (Stonehenge, Sphinx, Mayan Temple, Colleseum, etc)

So you can get them not for just the Top 100 rankings

I had the same thing a few days ago.
Today I looked at the rewards for the space launches but you can't earn the gold ones with those either...
So saving up some more money for the Giant!

I am not time traveller and got both 2nd place in Nepal and Antarctica last week. It is possible to get gold for non cheating.

Choose a destination you've been visiting and check ranging from there.

Prior to the bullshit update taking away 1/2 my buildings I was usually getting a couple of top 10-20 rewards per week.
Now, only a higher 20s for the giants as all I can be bothered with is sending off my 2 giants once or twice a day. Leaving the rest in their hanger.

Bought one "Silver Giant". So far more than 60 flights, and it hasn't broken yet. Maybe that is another advantage to the "silver" planes besides speed. I agree that buying the lower class jets in silver is a waste, since I am always changing my fleet. With ten hangars, I decided to get one Giant, and since $300K is soooo expensive, decided to use the tokens I had saved. one or two flights a day with a Giant is as much as I can suffer unless I ground the rest of my fleet, so it made sense for me to buy a silver one, as I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.
